• The brain, it's role and functioning is one of the grand topics in philosophy, biology and engineering. How do we think? How do we feel? How do we remember? Like many other researchers around the world we at LBB are eager to understand the nervous system. We are especially interested in examining elementary functions and processes of single neurons and want to understand how the puzzle pieces fit together. In neuroscience this is understood as the "bottom-up approach". Following this philosophy, I am working on microtechnological and microfluidical tricks, use small currents and dynamic surface modifications to control the position of cultured neurons and the growth of their axons.
