LBB Master Student Gino Bolliger awarded with Best Interdiciplinary Master Thesis from the ETH Micro and Nano Science Platform!!!

Congratulations to Gino who received this very prestigious price for his work on "Implantable Wireless Stimulators for Micro-Electrodes".

LBB Group Retreat goes to Sicily this year!

This year's group retreat will take place from 02.-07.09.2011 in Sicily (Scopello).
Thank you Gemma for organizing this wonderful event!
We will discuss the latest scientific issues, share knowledges under the sun of Sicily.
Snorkeling among fishes, quad driving in the countryside, taste local food will be part of the program.

New lbb member

Péter Nagy joined the lbb in September 2011 as as academic guest. His work will focus on single cell dielectric spectroscopy.

"Za tvoyo zdo´rovye!"
Our medical doctor made it to the grade of Doctor of Philosophy with his work on stem cells.
He succesfully presented his work on "Engineering mesenchymal stem cell sheets on functional polyelectrolyte multilayer substrates" on May the 2nd.

SOLA-Stafette 2011!!

Despite the crazy hot weather, the LBB team "Käfeli & Schnäpsli" managed to knocked 30 minutes off last year's time!!

New LBB Members

Chris Millan and Juliane Junesch started their PhD at lbb in April 2011.
Chris, who is originally from New Orleans, studied Biomedical Engineering at the ETH and will work on cartilage tissue engineering under the supervision of Marcy Wong
Juliane studied nanotechnology at the University of Würzburg and the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and will work on characerizing lipid membrane transport and biosensing using nanohole arrays.

On month later (May 2011) Benjamin Simona also joined the team as new PhD. Benji did his bachelor at the EPFL and his master at the ETH in Material Science. He will study the coagulation of blood at the electrode interface.

 

Taufers Ski Weekend!!!!

The event of the winter at the LBB took place mid of March this year.
Sadly, as the tradition wants it, one LBB member ended up at the hospital.
From now Orane's arm is made of steel.

This year we can thank Rapha for organizing our traditional fondue.
Swiss cheese, white wine, some schnapps for the toughest ones and lots of fun, that's the way we love it!

First LBB Doctor of the decade: Orane Guillaume-Gentil

This new year is started extremely well with the successful PhD defense of Orane on January the 24th!
Her thesis was entitled: Electrochemically-Addressable Polyelectrolyte Substrates: a Versatile Platform for Cell Sheet Engineering
